BLOC works with new and existing block clubs in targeted neighborhoods in Los Angeles County to provide opportunities for residents to influence their neighborhoods. Through the program, residents learn the value of a more stable and revitalized neighborhood and are taught strategies to transform entire blocks into walkable, safe spaces. BLOC aims to transform communities into neighborhoods of choice for hopeful new buyers with increased access to transportation, community facilities, and other public services.
Through participation in BLOC, residents will:
- Define and address issues they care about in their community;
- Collaborate with NHS and other community organizations to improve their neighborhoods; and
- Build relationships with fellow neighbors, community, nonprofit and business leaders, and elected officials.
