Historic Home Rehabilitation Program

  • A $10,000 grant is available to eligible home owners in the Adams Normandie Historic District to help subsidize rehabilitation work.
  • In partnership with USC, Los Angeles City Planning, and National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), NHS is launching a pilot program to assist property owners in the Adams-Normandie Historic District maintain and rehabilitate their properties through technical assistance and grant opportunities.

About the Program

  • Within the City of Los Angeles there are 35 local historic districts (Historic Preservation Overlay Zones). These districts have helped preserve and recognize the diverse architecture and history of the city. Many of the houses and multi-family buildings in historic districts are over 100 years old and need repairs. To make sure repair work, maintenance, or new construction preserves the character of the building, most work requires review by Los Angeles City Planning staff.
  • This new NHS program will assist property owners in obtaining review and approval by Los Angeles City Planning for including assistance in preparing submission materials such as architectural plans. Program participants will be paired with a student in the Heritage Conservation and Architecture programs at USC who will help prepare required materials and serve as the property owner’s liaison with the City.
